Painting NYC subway trains posed numerous challenges for Sonic: from stealing spray paint to navigating the city’s dangers en route to train yards, the process involved sneaking in and facing constant police pursuits. Despite these obstacles, Sonic’s determination and passion for his craft drove him to leave a lasting imprint on the subway cars, contributing to the vibrant and rebellious culture of graffiti in the 1970s and beyond. Notable works like “Revolution 81” and “World War III” on NYC subway cars showcase his influence.
